Image structured data for Wix Forums, Groups, Bookings and Online Programs

Wix added automatic Image structured data support for four major app types in May 2024: Forums, Groups, Bookings and Online Programs. Image schema helps Google understand and index the images within these community and business pages, improving their eligibility for Google Image Search rich results and visual search features.

What Image Structured Data Does

Image schema (using the ImageObject Schema.org type) provides Google with explicit metadata about images on your pages: the image URL, its alt text, dimensions, caption, copyright information and the context in which it appears. When Google has this data, it can include images in Image Search results with better accuracy and show image thumbnails in web search results for qualifying content types.

• Upload high-resolution images (minimum 800x600px) to trigger ImageObject schema
• Always complete the alt text field for every image in Forum, Groups and Bookings

• Ensure images are in WebP or JPEG format — Wix converts automatically on upload

How to ensure images in Wix Bookings, Forums, and Groups carry complete ImageObject schema

• Open the Wix Editor and navigate to your Wix Bookings service pages.
• Click on the service image for your first service listing and select Settings in the image options panel.
• In the Alternative Text field, enter a descriptive, keyword-relevant alt text that accurately describes the image content, for example "Sports massage therapist treating a client's shoulder at City Physiotherapy".
• Repeat this process for every service image and practitioner photo in your Wix Bookings section.
• Open your Wix Forum in the editor and review any existing posts with images. For forum posts you control (pinned posts, announcements), click the post, click the image, and add or update the alt text via the image settings.
• When creating new forum posts or group posts in Wix Groups, name image files descriptively before uploading (for example sports-massage-treatment.jpg rather than IMG_4921.jpg) to improve schema metadata quality.
• Upload service images at a minimum size of 800x600 pixels to ensure they meet the ImageObject schema size requirements that trigger rich result eligibility.
• After updating all images, open the Google Rich Results Test, enter a Wix Bookings service page URL, and check whether ImageObject schema is detected in the results.
• In Google Search Console, open the URL Inspection tool, enter your main Bookings page URL, and click Request Indexing so Google recrawls the page with the updated image metadata.
• Monitor GSC Enhancements over the following 4 weeks for any new Image schema data appearing in the Enhancements section.
