Toxic Backlinks

Low-quality or spammy links that may harm a website's rankings.

Toxic backlinks come from link farms, PBNs, hacked sites, off-topic directories and sites with manual penalties. Google's algorithms generally ignore low-quality links rather than penalise their targets. Disavowing toxic links is rarely necessary except when manual actions specifically reference them. Tools like Semrush Backlink Audit and Ahrefs identify potential toxic patterns.
