Click-Through Rate (CTR)

The percentage of search impressions that result in a click on a listing.

CTR is influenced by ranking position, snippet quality, brand recognition, query intent and presence of rich results. Average CTRs range from 30-40% at position one to under 1% by position 10. Improving CTR through compelling titles, descriptions, rich results and brand strength can produce ranking gains as Google interprets high CTR as a relevance signal.
