Indexability

Whether a crawled page is eligible to be added to a search engine's index.

Indexability is controlled by robots meta tags, X-Robots-Tag headers, canonical signals, content quality and duplicate detection. A page can be crawled but not indexed if it carries a noindex directive, points to a different canonical or is judged thin or duplicate. The Google Search Console Index Coverage report reveals indexability issues across a site.
