First Input Delay (FID)

A deprecated Core Web Vital measuring delay between first user interaction and response.

FID measured the time from a user's first interaction to the browser's ability to process it. It was officially replaced by INP in March 2024 because FID only captured the first interaction, while INP reflects ongoing responsiveness. While FID is no longer a ranking factor, it remains a useful diagnostic metric in some performance tools.
