Complete How-To: Setting Up Threads for Business
Threads is the most SEO-relevant emerging platform because of its Meta integration and growing Google indexing. Here is the complete setup process.
Full Threads setup guide
- Download the Threads app (available on iOS and Android, also accessible via threads.net on desktop).
- Log in with your Instagram Business account. Threads profiles are linked to Instagram: your username, followers, and profile photo carry over. You cannot create a standalone Threads account.
- Write your Threads bio (separate from your Instagram bio). You have 160 characters. Include your primary keyword and what you do. Example: "Wix SEO Expert | Helping small businesses rank on Google | Tips, insights & case studies".
- Add your Wix website URL to your Threads profile. Go to Edit Profile and add your link.
- Set your profile to Public (Settings > Privacy > Public Profile). Private Threads profiles cannot be indexed by Google and provide zero SEO value.
- Post your first 5-10 threads to establish your presence. Share: text-based SEO tips, industry insights, client results, and questions that encourage engagement.
- Follow relevant accounts in your industry. Engage with their posts through thoughtful replies. This increases your visibility to their audiences.
- Cross-post your best Threads content to Instagram Stories for amplification. Threads has a built-in "Share to Story" feature.
- Establish a posting cadence of 3-5 posts per week. Threads rewards consistent activity with higher distribution.
- Monitor Google for your brand name + "threads.net" to verify Google is indexing your Threads posts.
Complete How-To: Setting Up Snapchat for Business
Full Snapchat Business setup
- Create a Snapchat Business account at business.snapchat.com. You can also convert an existing personal account.
- Set up your Public Profile. Go to your profile > settings > "Create Public Profile". Add your business name, logo, category, website URL, and bio.
- Verify your business. Snapchat offers verification for businesses that meet certain criteria. Apply through the settings menu.
- Set up your location on Snap Map. Go to Settings > See My Location > enable location sharing for your business. This makes your business discoverable when users browse Snap Map in your area.
- Create your first Spotlight video (Snapchat's TikTok competitor). Short-form vertical video up to 60 seconds. Use Snapchat's built-in creative tools, lenses and music.
- Create Story content that drives viewers to your Wix site. Business accounts with 5,000+ subscribers can add web links to Stories. Until then, direct viewers to your profile bio link.
- Consider creating a custom Snapchat Lens or Filter for your business. Geofilters are available for local businesses and can drive brand awareness during events.
- Post to Spotlight 3-5 times per week. Snapchat prioritises consistent creators in their algorithm.

Not every new platform deserves your time. Use this data-driven framework to decide whether to invest in any new social platform.
Calculate weighted score: (Audience x 0.30) + (Indexing x 0.25) + (Links x 0.20) + (Effort x 0.15) + (Competition x 0.10). Any platform scoring 7+ is worth investing in. Score 5-7: monitor and experiment. Below 5: skip or simply secure your username.
