Your Wix site now receives traffic from AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews. The challenge is measuring it. Traditional analytics tools were not designed to track AI referral traffic, and most businesses have no visibility into how often AI systems mention or recommend them. The Wix AI Visibility dashboard solves this by providing a dedicated reporting interface for your AI search presence. This lesson walks through every panel, metric, and report available.
Accessing the AI Visibility Dashboard
The AI Visibility dashboard is located within the Marketing and SEO section of your Wix dashboard. Navigate to SEO and GEO, then look for the AI Visibility tab. This section aggregates data from multiple AI platforms and presents it alongside your traditional search performance data, giving you a unified view of your total search visibility.
Key Metrics and What They Mean
- AI Referral Traffic: visits to your site that originated from AI platforms. This includes clicks from ChatGPT web browsing, Perplexity citations, and other AI tools that link to your pages.
- AI Mentions: instances where your brand, products, or content were referenced in AI-generated responses, even without a direct click to your site.
- Platform Breakdown: which specific AI platforms are referencing your content, with volume data for each. Helps you understand where your AI visibility is strongest.
- Query Categories: the types of questions that lead AI systems to mention or recommend your business. These map to the intent categories your content targets.
- Visibility Score: a composite metric representing how discoverable your site is to AI systems relative to competitors in your space.
- Content Performance: which specific pages on your site are most frequently cited or linked by AI platforms.
Reading the Dashboard Effectively
How to interpret and act on the data
- Start with the AI Referral Traffic trend. Is it growing, stable, or declining? A decline may indicate competitors are producing better content or your structured data has errors.
- Check the Platform Breakdown. If you are visible on Perplexity but absent from ChatGPT, investigate what Perplexity is citing (it often uses real-time web results) vs what ChatGPT recommends (based on training data plus web search).
- Review Content Performance to identify your strongest AI-performing pages. These pages have characteristics that AI systems favour. Analyse what makes them different from your lower-performing pages.
- Look at Query Categories. If AI systems reference you for informational queries but not commercial ones, your product and service pages may need more comprehensive content.
- Compare your Visibility Score over time. After making content improvements, check this metric after 2-4 weeks to see if your AI visibility has increased.
- Cross-reference AI visibility data with your Google Search Console performance. Pages that perform well in both channels are your strongest assets.
Common Issues and How to Fix Them
- Zero AI referral traffic: your site likely lacks structured data, has thin content, or is not mentioned on authoritative third-party sources. Focus on Schema markup and content depth.
- AI mentions but no clicks: AI systems are recommending you but not linking. Ensure your brand name is unique and easily searchable so users can find you after an AI mention.
- Traffic from one platform only: expand your optimisation. Each AI platform has different data sources. Diversify your presence across directories, review sites, and industry publications.
- Declining visibility score: competitors may be improving their content. Run a competitive analysis using the dashboard data.
How to Use the AI Visibility Dashboard to Find Content Gaps
How to analyse your AI Visibility dashboard data and identify which pages to improve for better AI coverage
- Log in to your Wix dashboard at manage.wix.com and navigate to Marketing & SEO, then select SEO and GEO from the menu.
- Open the AI Visibility tab and wait for the dashboard to fully load. Note the overall Visibility Score displayed at the top of the dashboard.
- Click on the Content Performance panel and sort pages by AI citation volume from lowest to highest. The pages at the bottom receive the fewest AI mentions despite being on your site.
- Select one of the lowest-performing pages from the list and open it in the Wix Editor.
- Check whether the page has a complete structured data block by opening page settings, selecting the SEO tab, and reviewing the Structured Data Markup field. If it is empty, add appropriate schema for that content type.
- Review the page content length and depth. If the page has fewer than 300 words or lacks clear H2 subheadings, add substantive content covering additional subtopics relevant to that page's subject.
- Open the Query Categories panel in the AI Visibility dashboard and identify which question types AI systems are answering from your site. For any category where your presence is low, find the pages most relevant to that category and improve their content.
- After updating the lowest-performing pages, return to the dashboard two weeks later and compare the updated Visibility Score against your baseline. Document which changes produced measurable improvement.
