How to Run a Complete Wix SEO Pre-Launch Audit Using This Checklist
Follow these steps to use the master checklist above as a structured pre-launch audit for any new Wix page or site, ensuring nothing is missed before going live in Google search.
Running a pre-launch Wix SEO audit using the complete checklist
- Step 1: Open a copy of this checklist in a spreadsheet with four columns: Item, Status (Pass / Fail / N/A), Evidence (URL or screenshot), and Priority (Critical / Important / Minor).
- Step 2: Work through the Site-Level SEO Checklist first. For each item, check the relevant Wix Dashboard setting or tool. Mark any item that is not fully configured as Fail with a note of what needs to be done.
- Step 3: For each of your 10 most important pages, open the Wix Editor SEO panel and work through the Page-Level SEO Checklist. Confirm unique title tag, meta description, clean URL, single H1, correct heading hierarchy, and canonical tag.
- Step 4: Paste each key page URL into Google Rich Results Test. Confirm no structured data errors. Record the test result URL in the Evidence column of your checklist as proof of validation.
- Step 5: Open each key page in Chrome DevTools (F12 > Lighthouse tab). Run a Lighthouse audit for Performance and Accessibility. Record the scores. Flag any Performance score below 80 or Accessibility score below 90 as a Fail.
- Step 6: For local businesses, run through the Local SEO Checklist section. Open Google Business Profile at business.google.com and verify every field is complete, photos are current, and the website URL points to your Wix site (not a third-party redirect).
- Step 7: Work through the Technical SEO Checklist. Use Google Search Console to verify no important pages are excluded from indexing. Check robots.txt for blocking errors. Confirm the sitemap contains all key pages.
- Step 8: Work through the Content Quality Checklist for each key page. For any item marked Fail (e.g., content under 800 words for an informational page, or no FAQ section on a commercial page), add a specific action item with a deadline.
- Step 9: Sum the total Fail items. Categorise each by priority: Critical (must fix before launch), Important (fix within 2 weeks of launch), Minor (fix within 1 month). Do not launch if any Critical items remain.
- Step 10: After all Critical and Important items are resolved, re-run the audit for your 5 most important pages to confirm all previously failing items now pass. Request indexing for each key page via the URL Inspection tool in Search Console after launch.
How to Use This Checklist as an Ongoing SEO Audit Framework
Follow these steps to turn this master checklist into a repeatable quarterly SEO audit framework, tracking progress over time and building a clear picture of your site's SEO maturity.
Using the Wix SEO master checklist as a quarterly audit framework
- Step 1: Download or copy this full checklist into a Google Sheet. Add a separate tab for each quarter: Q1 2026, Q2 2026, Q3 2026, Q4 2026. Each tab is a full independent audit completed in that quarter.
- Step 2: At the start of each quarter, open the Site-Level Checklist tab and work through every item. For site-level items that passed last quarter, do a rapid verification (2-minute check) to confirm no regression. For any item that newly fails, investigate the cause.
- Step 3: Select 10 representative pages for your page-level audit: your homepage, your top 5 organic traffic pages from GSC, and your 4 most commercially important pages. Complete the full Page-Level SEO Checklist for each.
- Step 4: For the Content Quality Checklist, open your top 10 organic traffic pages in GA4 and GSC simultaneously. For each page, compare the content on-site against the checklist items. Flag any page where content quality has degraded (outdated statistics, broken links, removed sections).
- Step 5: For the Technical SEO Checklist, run a new Screaming Frog crawl of the full site (or a sample of 100 pages for large sites). Export the crawl data and check for new 404 errors, missing metadata, duplicate titles, and slow pages.
- Step 6: Assign a pass/fail score to each checklist section and calculate an overall audit score: (Total Pass items / Total applicable items) x 100. Record this percentage in a summary dashboard sheet alongside organic traffic and conversion data.
- Step 7: Compare your current quarter score against the previous quarter. A score increase indicates SEO health improvement. A score decrease requires immediate investigation of which checklist categories declined and why.
- Step 8: Generate a prioritised action list from all Fail items in the current audit. Sort by impact: items failing in multiple audit sections (e.g., a page with no title tag, no H1, and thin content) should be prioritised above items failing only one section.
- Step 9: Assign each action item to a responsible person (yourself, a copywriter, a developer) with a completion deadline before the next quarterly audit. Log completion status in the action list column of your spreadsheet.
- Step 10: Share the summary tab of your quarterly audit with any stakeholders or clients, showing the overall score trend, the top 3 improvements made this quarter, and the top 3 priorities for next quarter. This demonstrates ongoing progress and justifies continued SEO investment.
