Wix Social Share Preview

Enter any URL or paste your HTML to see exactly how your page will look when shared on Facebook, X and LinkedIn. Check your Open Graph and Twitter card tags, spot missing images and descriptions, and get Wix-specific guidance on setting the right tags.

I work with Wix businesses across the UK, US, Canada, Australia and worldwide.

Understanding social share tags

Open Graph (og:) is the standard used by Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and most other platforms. Set og:title, og:description, og:image and og:url as a minimum.

Twitter Cards use twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description and twitter:image. If these are missing, X falls back to your Open Graph tags.

Image requirements: use 1200 x 630 pixels, under 8 MB. Add og:image:width and og:image:height so platforms can render the preview before downloading the full image.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph tags are snippets of HTML that control how your page looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and other platforms. They set the title, description and image that appear in the share card. Without them, platforms guess what to show, often with poor results.

Where do I set social share tags in Wix?

In the Wix editor, click on a page, open the SEO panel, and go to the Social Share tab. There you can set the title, description and image that appear when the page is shared. Wix also sets some Open Graph tags automatically from your page title and description.

What is a Twitter card?

A Twitter card (now X card) is a rich preview that appears when someone shares your URL on X. The twitter:card tag controls the format: "summary" shows a small square image, "summary_large_image" shows a wide banner. If no Twitter-specific tags are set, X falls back to your Open Graph tags.

What size should my social share image be?

Facebook and LinkedIn recommend 1200 x 630 pixels. X recommends 1200 x 628 pixels for summary_large_image cards or 144 x 144 for summary cards. Use a single 1200 x 630 image and it will work well across all three platforms.

Why does my shared link show the wrong image?

Platforms cache social previews aggressively. After updating your tags, use Facebook Sharing Debugger to clear the cache and fetch fresh tags. LinkedIn has a Post Inspector that does the same. X caches less aggressively but can take a few minutes to update.
