SaaS landing page architecture for conversion and SEO
Module 38: SEO for SaaS & Digital Services on Wix | Lesson 440 of 687 | 52 min read

A SaaS landing page must serve two masters simultaneously: it must rank well in Google for competitive keywords, and it must convert visitors into free trial signups or demo requests. Most SaaS companies sacrifice one for the other, creating either keyword-stuffed pages that fail to convert or beautifully designed pages that Google cannot understand. This lesson teaches you how to build Wix landing pages that achieve both goals.
The Anatomy of a High-Ranking SaaS Landing Page
Google needs substantial text content to understand what your page is about and rank it appropriately. But SaaS buyers expect a visually engaging, scannable page that communicates value quickly. The solution is a layered page structure where above-the-fold content focuses on conversion while below-the-fold content satisfies Google's need for comprehensive topical coverage.

Above-the-Fold Section: Conversion Focus
- H1 headline: include your primary keyword naturally while communicating your core value proposition. Example: "Project Management Software That Actually Gets Used" targets "project management software" while conveying a benefit
- Subheadline: expand on the H1 with a supporting statement that addresses a pain point or highlights a key differentiator
- Primary CTA: a high-contrast button with action-oriented text like "Start Free Trial" or "See It In Action", not vague phrases like "Learn More"
- Social proof element: a single line showing customer count, ratings or recognisable logos, such as "Trusted by 5,000+ teams" or "4.8 stars on G2"
- Hero visual: a product screenshot, short demo video or animated GIF showing the product in action, not a generic stock photo
Feature Sections: Balancing Copy and Visuals
Below the fold, create 4-6 feature sections that each target a secondary keyword while demonstrating product capabilities. Each section should have an H2 heading containing a feature keyword, 2-3 paragraphs of descriptive text explaining the benefit, a product screenshot or illustration, and a secondary CTA. On Wix, use alternating left-right layouts with the Strip component to create visual variety.
Building feature sections on Wix that rank and convert
- Identify 4-6 secondary keywords related to your primary landing page keyword, such as "task assignment", "team collaboration", "project timeline" for a project management tool
- Create an H2 heading for each feature section that naturally includes the secondary keyword: "Assign Tasks and Track Progress in Real Time"
- Write 100-150 words of benefit-focused copy for each section explaining not just what the feature does but why the user should care
- Add a product screenshot for each section using Wix Image elements with descriptive alt text that includes the feature keyword
- Include a contextual CTA in each section, such as "Try task management free" rather than a generic "Sign up"
- Use Wix Strips to create alternating background colours that visually separate each feature section
Social Proof and Trust Sections
SaaS landing pages need multiple layers of social proof to overcome the inherent scepticism of trying new software. Place these strategically throughout the page rather than in a single testimonials section.
- Logo bar: display logos of recognisable customers immediately below the hero section. Even 3-4 logos dramatically increase trust
- Testimonial quotes: place 2-3 customer quotes with real names, titles and company names next to relevant feature sections
- Case study snippets: include brief outcome statements like "Acme Corp reduced project delivery time by 40%" with links to full case studies
- Review platform badges: embed G2, Capterra or Trustpilot badges with your current rating
- Security and compliance badges: display SOC 2, GDPR, ISO certifications if applicable
- Integration logos: show the logos of popular tools your product integrates with to signal ecosystem compatibility
SEO Content Section: The Below-Fold Strategy
Add a substantial content section toward the bottom of the page that provides the topical depth Google needs to rank the page. This can be a "What is [product category]?" explainer, an FAQ section, or a detailed overview of the product category. This section should contain 500-800 words of original, informative content targeting your primary keyword and related terms.
On-Page SEO Checklist for SaaS Landing Pages
- Title tag: primary keyword + brand name, under 60 characters. Example: "Project Management Software | YourBrand"
- Meta description: include the keyword, a benefit statement and a call to action, under 155 characters
- H1: one per page, containing the primary keyword naturally
- H2 headings: 4-6 per page, each containing a secondary or related keyword
- Image alt text: describe each screenshot or illustration using relevant keywords
- Internal links: link to at least 3 related pages such as feature pages, comparison pages and relevant blog posts
- URL slug: keep it short and keyword-focused, like /project-management-software
- Page speed: compress all images, limit custom fonts to 2, and minimise third-party tracking scripts
- Schema markup: add SoftwareApplication schema with aggregateRating if you have reviews
Conversion Rate Optimisation Alongside SEO
A landing page that ranks first but converts at 0.5 percent is less valuable than a page ranking third with a 3 percent conversion rate. Once your page is ranking, continuously optimise for conversions without removing SEO-critical elements.
- Test different H1 headlines that maintain the primary keyword but change the value proposition angle
- Experiment with CTA button colours, sizes and copy while keeping the CTA above the fold
- Test different social proof elements: logos vs testimonials vs review badges
- A/B test the hero visual: product screenshot vs demo video vs illustration
- Reduce form fields to the minimum required for a free trial signup
- Add exit-intent popups with a compelling offer for visitors about to leave
