Module 18: Wix Bookings, Hotels & Service Business SEO | Lesson 228 of 687 | 24 min read

Every event you create using Wix Events generates its own branded page with a unique URL. These event pages are powerful SEO assets that can rank for event-related local searches, drive ticket sales, and build your brand authority. However, most Wix users publish events without touching the SEO settings, leaving significant ranking potential on the table. This lesson covers the complete SEO optimisation workflow for Wix Events pages.
Why Event Pages Are SEO Opportunities
Event-related searches have high commercial intent. Someone searching for "yoga workshop London this weekend" or "small business networking events Manchester" is ready to take action. If your event page is optimised for these searches, you capture visitors who are actively looking for exactly what you offer. Additionally, event pages with proper Event schema markup can appear as rich results in Google, with dates, times, and ticket information displayed directly in search results.
Configuring SEO for Each Event
Complete event page SEO setup
- Open your event in Wix Events and navigate to the SEO settings tab.
- Write a keyword-rich meta title that includes the event name, type, and location (e.g., "Beginner Yoga Workshop | Saturday Mornings | Camden, London").
- Craft a meta description that highlights what attendees will gain, when it happens, and includes a call to action for tickets or registration.
- Customise the event page URL to be descriptive and clean. Remove auto-generated date strings or IDs.
- Write a comprehensive event description that goes beyond basic logistics. Include what attendees will learn, who the event is for, speaker credentials, and what makes this event unique.
- Add a high-quality cover image with descriptive alt text. This image appears in social media shares and can appear in Google image search.
- Configure the Open Graph tags so the event looks compelling when shared on social media.
- Review the auto-generated Event schema markup and ensure the date, time, location, ticket availability, and price are all correct.
Event Schema Markup on Wix
Wix Events automatically generates Event schema markup for each event. This structured data tells Google the event name, description, start and end dates, location (physical or online), ticket price, availability status, and organiser information. When configured correctly, this can trigger rich event listings in Google search results, significantly increasing visibility and click-through rates.
- Verify event dates and times are correct in the schema, including timezone
- Ensure the location includes the full address for in-person events or an online access URL for virtual events
- Set ticket availability status (InStock, SoldOut, PreOrder) to display in search results
- Include the organiser name and URL to strengthen entity signals
- For recurring events, ensure each instance has its own unique page and schema markup
Promoting Events Through SEO Channels
- Create a blog post for each major event, linking to the event page with keyword-rich anchor text
- Add event links to relevant service or about pages on your Wix site
- Include upcoming events in your email signatures and social media profiles
- Submit events to local directories and community calendars that Google crawls
- After the event, update the page with photos and a recap to maintain its SEO value
How to Update a Past Event Page to Retain Its SEO Value
How to repurpose and update a Wix Events page after the event ends to maintain its ranking authority
- Log in to your Wix dashboard and navigate to Wix Events. Find the event that has recently ended and open its settings.
- Do not delete or unpublish the event page. Instead, update the event title to add the year and the word Recap, for example "Annual Photography Workshop 2026 Recap".
- Open the event description editor and add a new top section titled Event Recap. Write two to three paragraphs summarising what happened, who attended, key takeaways, and any notable moments.
- Upload three to five photos from the event to the page. Add descriptive alt text to each photo mentioning the event name and location.
- Add a Testimonials section below the recap with two or three quotes from attendees. Include their first name and profession with their permission.
- Update the Event schema markup. Change the eventStatus to EventScheduled with a note that this page now covers the completed event recap, and update the description to reflect the recap content.
- Add an internal link section at the bottom of the page with a heading like Upcoming Events and link to the next scheduled event or your events listing page.
- Update the meta title and description in the page SEO settings to reflect the recap content. Use a title like "Photography Workshop 2026 Recap and Highlights | Your Business Name".
- Submit the updated URL to Google Search Console via URL Inspection and click Request Indexing. The recap content gives Google fresh signals to keep the page in the index.
