Frequently Asked Questions
How long should a title tag be?
Aim for under 60 characters and roughly 600 pixels wide. Google measures by pixel width, not character count, so wider letters like W and M use more space than i or l. Staying under 60 characters is a safe guideline for most titles.
How long should a meta description be?
Around 150 to 155 characters on desktop. Mobile search results show fewer characters, typically around 120. Write your most important message first so it is visible even if Google trims the end.
Does Google always show my title and description?
No. Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions if it thinks a different version better matches the search query. Writing clear, accurate, well-formatted tags that match your page content reduces the chance of Google overriding them.
Is this SERP simulator free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up required. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to any server.
Where do I set the title and meta description in Wix?
In the Wix Editor, click a page in the left panel, choose "SEO (Google)", and fill in the SEO title and SEO description fields. In Wix Studio, open Page Settings then SEO Basics. These fields map directly to the <title> and <meta name="description"> tags, with no code required.
Why does my title look cut off in Google?
Google truncates by pixel width, not character count, so long titles get an ellipsis. This tool warns you before that happens.
Does the preview match Google exactly?
It is a close, honest approximation. Google can rewrite titles and descriptions, but getting them right here gives you the best chance of showing as intended.
Can I use this for any website, not just Wix?
Absolutely. The simulator works for any URL. The title and description fields in Google are the same regardless of platform, so the pixel-width checks apply to WordPress, Shopify, custom sites and everything else.
